Research on Pancragen has focused on pancreatic tissue signaling, an organ-specific research area distinct from more general metabolic compounds like NAD+ or 5-Amino-1MQ.

Consistent with peptide bioregulator theory, Pancragen is proposed to interact with gene-regulatory processes in pancreatic tissue.
